At Monday’s board of education business meeting, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tricia Mooney announced that S&P Global reaffirmed the Hermiston School District’s AA- (double A minus) rating.
“It’s fantastic that the district is able to retain the AA- rating,” said Dr. Tricia Mooney. “The rating is indicative of the board of education’s stewardship in their governance and oversight of the district’s finances. Under the leadership of Katie Saul, Director of Business Services, the work of our entire business department has been invaluable in maintaining this rating which equates to low-interest rates, and savings to taxpayers.”
In its rating report, S&P Global highlighted the following strengths of the District:
- Track record of operating surpluses, which have supported its maintenance of strong-to-very available fund balances in the general fund;
- Good financial management, with prudent budgeting practices, including monthly reporting on budget-to-actual performance and investments.
A series of bonds are currently scheduled to be sold this week.
El Distrito mantiene su clasificación crediticia de AA-
En la junta de negocios de la directiva de este lunes pasado, la Superintendente de las Escuelas la Dra. Tricia Mooney, anunció que S & P Global reafirmó que el Distrito Escolar de Hermiston tiene una clasificación crediticia de AA-.
“Es fantástico que el distrito puede retener la clasificación crediticia de AA-,” comentó la Dra. Tricia Mooney. “La clasificación es indicativa del cuidado en la administración y su función supervisora de las finanzas del distrito. Bajo el liderazgo de Katie Saul, Directora de los Servicios de Negocios, el trabajo de todo el departamento de negocios es invaluable en mantener la clasificación crediticia el cual equivale a bajas tasas de interés y ahorros a los pagadores de impuestos.”
En su reporte de clasificación crediticia, S&P Global destacó que los siguientes eran los puntos fuertes del Distrito:
- Tiene un historial de superávit operativos, los cuales han apoyado a conservar fondos que están disponibles en el fondo general;
- Una buena gestión financiera, con prudentes prácticas de presupuestación, incluyendo reportes mensuales de la actividad en el presupuesto y las inversiones.
Una serie de bonos están programados para ser vendidos esta semana.
