Hermiston School District will promote from within to fill administrative positions for the next school year.
Director of Student Services Neely McKay has served as interim director of special programs this school year, following the resignation of the previous director. McKay has proven to be a good fit in the role, with her strength of leadership and knowledge of special programs. She will officially step up as director on July 1, vacating the director of student services position.
Desert View Elementary School Principal Daniel Greenough will move to the district office and work with McKay, serving as the director of student services. Prior to being hired by HSD, Greenough served as a high school principal. This experience, along with his elementary knowledge, will aid him in working with students and staff across the K-12 spectrum in areas such as counseling, social-emotional work, and health services.
Previous elementary school teacher and current Sandstone Middle School Assistant Principal David Melville will move to DVES as principal. A previous high school dean of students, Melville has served as an assistant middle school principal for the past three years.
HSD recently posted the Loma Vista Elementary School principal position, providing time to hire staff and plan for Fall 2022 with students. Joshua Browning will be the LVES principal. He is currently an instructional coach, supporting and training teachers on district instructional initiatives and working with data to best meet student needs.
“This past year, education has experienced the largest crisis in our time,” said Superintendent of School Dr. Tricia Mooney. “Looking forward and planning for next school year, it is critical that the individuals serving in leadership roles for the district share the same values and passion for Hermiston students. These four leaders are familiar with district systems, have established relationships throughout the community, and can smoothly transition this spring and hit the ground running July 1.”

Antes de ser contratado por HSD, Greenough sirvió como director de preparatoria. Esta experiencia, junto con su conocimiento de primaria, le ayudara a trabajar con estudiantes y personal a través del espectro de K-12 en áreas como consejeria, trabajo social-emocional, y servicios de salud.
Maestro previo de primarias y sub director de la Secundaria Sandstone David Melville se moverá a DVES como director. Como Decano de Estudiantes previo de la preparatoria, Melville ha estado sirviendo como sub director por los últimos tres años.
HSD resientemente publico la posición de director de la Escuela Primaria Loma Vista, al proveer tiempo para contratar personal y planificar para el otoño 2022 con estudiantes. Joshua Browning será el director de LVES. El es actualmente un entrenador instruccional, apoyando y entrenando maestros en las inisiativas de instrucción del distrito y trabajando con información para mejor cubrir las necesidades de los estudiantes.

Estos cuatro lideres están familiarizados con el sistema del distrito, han establecido realciones a través de la comunidad, y pueden hacer la transición con facilidad esta primavera y tomar el suelo coriendo el 1ero de julio.
